Sarah-Louise and I have been writing together since 2006. In 2012 we won the London Cabaret Awards Best Musical Variety Act for our long running show Cabaret Whore. You can Like our Facebook page here for news updates.
We now have a dedicated R&Y website here. This will feature news for our latest show ‘La Poule Plombée: Je Regrette!’. This is for the Edinburgh Festival 2016 and Australia 2017 and UK touring. Here is one of her songs:
In 2015 we launched our second album ‘Two Faced’ at the Crazy Coqs. You can buy it here. Here is a sample track:
A wildly wicked programme of original musical comedy…. a return to the golden era of cabaret and revue” Musical Theatre Review
“A contemporary edge with a nostalgic nod to the great songwriters of the Golden Age – a sort of Flanders and Swann for the 21st century” The Stage
“Entertainment at it’s most dazzling… The delightfully funny songs and their sheer ease make for an immensely enjoyable evening” The Upcoming
We wrote five songs for the octogenarian stand-up Lynn Ruth Miller. The EP is here and this is the title track from her show “Not Dead Yet”.
In 2013 we presented ‘Songs For Cynics‘, a set of 12 comic songs, sample tracks below. The new album is available here and this is a sample track:
I exited with a spring in my step having been royally entertained by this polished duet. So much so that I chucked my tenner into the collection bucket to get a copy of the CD on offer. Given that cynics don’t often part with tenners, that tells you how highly I am recommending this show” Fringe Review.
“The performances were entertaining, funny, faultless and at times, touching” **** WeirdFringe.com
Here’s a track from the country singer ‘Sammy Mavis Junior’:
A model of polished musical storytelling. Edinburgh loves her. So do we”***** – Time Out Top Ten Cabaret Artists 2011 on Cabaret Whore
We also wrote rather some steamy songs for Ophelia Bitz in 2012 for her ‘Artw*nk’ project with Paul Hanson… Bitz explores a surprisingly joyful selection of vintage pornography accompanied by witty banter and our songs. Great fun but not for the prudish. These were performed at the EdFringe 2012 and touring.
In 2009/10 we collaborated with The Sticking Place theatre company on their ‘Terror’ seasons of Grand Guignol Theatre. These songs were intentionally dark and wry. It was here we discovered the life story of Paula Maxa the infamous Parisian actress of the Theatre Du Grand Guignol and wrote a song about her.
Our very first original show in 2006 was ‘Confessions…’ was on the topic of Sarah sharing the same name as a high achieving porn actress and the comic side of making different choices in life. It had some great reviews, spawned a set of wonderful songs and began a fruitful, nourishing collaboration.
Bitingly funny lyrics and a melody you can hum outside the theatre is a rare treat. This is intelligent comedy.” – Broadway Baby **** on Confessions…
Finally here is a short film we collaborated on with film-maker Michael Shaw. Based on a Swift poem.
